"Reflections"
The New York State Association of Incarcerated Education
Programs' 20th Annual Conference packet this year will include a collection of
writings submitted from students in your facilities. Each facility is asked to collect and send in two to three
pieces of writing (poems, stories, etc.) that you would like to see included
in our publication entitled "Reflections".
Directions for Submission:
Two pieces may
be entered for programs daily serving 50 students or less.
Four pieces may
be entered for programs daily serving 50 - 100 students.
Six pieces may be
entered for programs daily serving 100 - 150 students.
Eight pieces may
be entered for programs daily serving 150 - 200 students.
Ten pieces may
be entered for programs daily serving more than 200 students.
Submissions
must be received by MARCH 1, 2008

Please
send an electronic or paper copy to your Regional Coordinator.
Each piece of
writing must be in final form approved by you and ready to be copied. It may have a
graphic or drawing pertaining to the writing included in the electronic copy.
Include at the end of each piece of writing, the
name/initials of the author or anonymous and the name of the facility.
In order for the inmate's name to be put on a piece of
writing, a release form must be filled out by the inmate and kept at each
individual facility.
Art Exhibit
We are planning another Student
Art Exhibit at the New York State Association of Incarcerated Education
Programs' 20th Annual Conference on April 30 – May 2, 2008.
The following are guidelines for
you to follow so that you may participate.
1.
All art work - including 3D - in all media can be accepted.
2.
All art work should be no more than 24" on one side.
3.
Two pieces may be entered
for programs daily serving 50 students or less.
Four pieces may be entered
for programs daily serving 50 - 100 students.
Six pieces may be entered for
programs daily serving 100 - 150 students.
Eight pieces may be entered
for programs daily serving 150 - 200 students.
Ten pieces may be entered
for programs daily serving more than 200 students.
4.
All art work must be
preregistered by April 1. This
means that the names of the students whose art work will be shown from your
program be sent to us no later than
April 1, 2008.
5.
All art work should be prepared (with proper hardware where
appropriate) to be hung on a panel or wall.
6.
Each piece of art work should be accompanied by two labels:
one should be attached to the
back of the art work, and the other should accompany the art work so that
it can be hung along with it. The
label below can be reproduced for your use.
*We will have a table where all
art work can be checked off and dropped off.
